Sermon Synopsis

In Obadiah, God has five messages for the Edomites. First, He is sovereign. Regardless of our beliefs, He created us and will judge us all. Second, God’s word is history - it relates to facts involving real people, real events, and has real impacts. He says what He means and means what He says. Third, we should never be self-confident. The Edomites thought themselves to be invincible and boasted in their strategic location, abundance of allies, and great array of resources. However, this leads to self-destruction and God says that they will be brought down. Fourth, there is judgment and we will reap what we sow. Fifth, These messages are still true to us today. Let us plead with Him to show us His mercy, that we can receive His grace through Christ.
