Day 1 (Thursday, 1 August)
Gospel in the Home
How does Gospel-centred parenting look like in an Asian home?
Legalistic parenting, with a focus upon external adherence to certain standards in the home, comes as second nature to many Asian parents. Often contrasted with this is ‘Gospel-centred’ parenting, guided by the core belief that the Gospel penetrates and pervades every area of the lives of believers, including parent-child relationships.
In this talk, Dr. Beeke explores Gospel transformation of the Christian home.
Family Worship and the Gospel in the Home
What is family worship, and how can it help my children come to Christ?
Family worship is a foundational practice in a Gospel-transformed home: it engages children consistently with the Word of God in general and the Gospel in particular. Yet, it is virtually unheard of today.
In this talk, Dr. Beeke re-instructs about the vital practice of family worship.
Day 2 (Friday, 2 August)
Bringing Our Children to Christ
How can we draw the interest of our second generation children to Christ?
Our most important task as parents is to disciple our children – to bring them to Christ. But the reality is that many of us struggle with this task; we fail to understand how a God who is so real and precious to us can be so distant and irrelevant to our children; and we lament when our children depart from the faith.
In this talk, Dr. Beeke examines parental decisions, practices, and lifestyles which help to establish our children in the Christian faith.
Marriage and Parenting
“When children come, the romance goes”. Must this be so?
It is often said that for Asian families, when children come, the romance goes: the married couple instead become project partners – Project Title: Raising Children. A loving and strong marriage becomes secondary to the task of providing for and educating our children.
In this talk, Dr. Beeke casts a vision of healthy biblical marriages for the purpose of raising children in the ways of God and shares how loving marital relationships can be sustained in the face of myriad child-rearing challenges.
